The Golf Compact Hatchback is one of the best-selling cars. Refreshing the Golf with new features like connectivity that will keep it as a consumer favorite. When many sedans and hatchbacks are getting retired to feature SUVs and crossover. It gets a connectivity upgrade as the all-new improved package. Key to keeping it fresh and relevant with newer models coming out from competitors.

Key to keeping it fresh and relevant with newer models coming out from competitors. Step inside the electronic "tub" which is its digital cockpit. First presented at VW corporate headquarters to unveil it as the newest compact model. Playing for keeps which is why this car is set to be a bestseller worth the price tag.

Connectivity Features
Updates
add auto cruise control (ACC) or engage a WiFi hotspot function. For a compact car that comes in several trim options with the ability to update over the air (OTA).
Connectivity gives the Golf a good price point that should be a selling point over other options. Standard is a factory-equipped modem linking the cars ECU to We Connect and We Connect Plus keeping the car's ethernet always logged on.
Samsung mobile phones can unlock the car door with a virtual key courtesy of a factory install modem. These same devices can relay if a door is open, lights are on, and where the car is parked via GPS.
Extras inside are a multi-function steering wheel, a 10.25-inch screen with 8.25-inch touch LCD, in the middle of the dash. Use Alexa for hands-free function when driving. Keyless starting that has Heads-up screen as an option.

Semi-Autonomous Driving makes it safer

One of the first models that have Car2X communications (car-to-car and car-to-infrastructure) that talks to connected devices in the environment. It warns the car of hazards before it reaches them. Car2X-equipped cars will send a warning to other cars within range of 800 meters (0.5 miles away).
Compact cars with semi-autonomous travel assist are rare. Found in more premium EVs like Tesla and others. The system will engage steering, brake, at 210 kph on the highway. It is best to keep one hand holding the wheel at all times. Passat midsize sedans have this as part of their trim. Golf and Passat are equipped with the driver-assist, though for Passat only in Europe.

 Cleaner Hybrid Engines
Golf mild hybrids are with 48-volt belt starter generator (BSG) which gets a 10% fuel use reduction. Paired with a double-clutch gearbox with 109 to 148 hp as power output. When coasting the engines will shut down to save fuel.
Five hybrid trim are two PHEV and three 48-volt mild versions. For the GTE PHEV that is 201 hp and 241 hp for total output. All have a 13-kWh Lithium-ion when engaged for zero emissions. The gas component has 128 hp combines with 201/2041 hp (electric). Cycling between components is more efficient and cleaner than four-cylinder engines.
