2017 Nissan Rogue Sport: Well-Loved For Being Shorter?

Jun 22, 2017 03:20 AM EDT | Paul Urban

The 2017 Nissan Rogue Sport is reviewed as a worthy entry to the crossover market. Well, judging by its looks, it means business. By business, it's the kind of fun and not the serious kind. This is then enough to capture the market that is particular with style and size.

The 2017 Nissan Rogue Sport is expected to be a big hit across all demographics. If one likes a fun and capable crossover, this may well be a good choice. Aside from its fun demeanor, the price is something that's hard to resist.

Who won't be attracted to a base price of $21,420 and $960 in delivery fees, right? However, it is important to note that this is different from the larger and more expensive Nissan Rogue. Both actually ride on the same platform but the Rogue Sport is smaller and lighter.

The Nissan Rogue has a different name in Europe. Its challenging name "Qashqai" is already doing well there. The European market has a knack for smaller cars for easy maneuverability, especially in parking. Because of limited spaces and practically smaller roads, Europe particularly clamors over crossovers such as this.

The 2017 Rogue Sport is powered by inline-4 aluminum block and head, direct fuel injection. It is capable of producing 141-horsepower and 147 pound-feet of torque. It has Continuously Variable Automatic with manual shifting mode.

The Nissan Rogue Sport is a little disappointing in terms of its acceleration. It can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 9.5 seconds. Other crossovers definitely do better than this. However, if this is going to be used only as an everyday driving car, such data should not be bothersome. After all, the Nissan Rogue Sport is not positioned as a crossover to deliver demonic speeds.

The 2017 Nissan Rogue Sport offers Nissan Safety Shield suite of advanced safety features. It includes Forward Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Forward Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning, and a host of many other features.
