It seems it was only yesterday that we laid our eyes upon the beautiful 2018 Range Rover Velar, and now a high-performance variant is already flexing its muscles at the Nürburgring. The 2019 Range Rover Velar SVR is set to compete with the likes of Alfa Romeo Stelvio QV and the Porsche Macan Turbo. But watch the video below first at it runs around the 'Ring.

Based on the license plate, it is the same prototype that was spotted a few weeks ago. And despite it wearing some heavy camouflage, it really cannot hide the roar of its engine and we get to hear it, finally.

Although there is no official word as of this writing from Land Rover, the 2019 Range Rover Velar SVR should receive JLR's 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine that is capable of delivering 567 horses and 516 lb-ft of torque. This would have been the same engine housed in the Jaguar F-Pace SVR.

This variant should sprint a 0 to 60mph in just 53 seconds with a top speed of 155 mph. But these are not official numbers yet.

Now, of course, to make the most of the powerful engine, 2019 Range Rover Velar SVR should receive a tweaked chassis, better brakes, and new performance settings for its suspension, which should be all part of a package. Not only that, some bespoke larger wheels are also in place. To distinguish this upcoming variant from the current 2018 Range Rover Velar, included are muscular side skirts, new bumper designs, rear spoiler and diffuser, and a quad exhaust.

But one noticeable difference with the 2019 Range Rover Velar SVR is its door handles. It has those conventional door handles, unlike the 2018 Range Rover Velar. The production version could possibly have the same regular door handles, but we will yet to find out.

The 2019 Range Rover Velar SVR is slated to make a 2018 debut with 2019 as its model year. Pricing-wise, it could be to the tune of $95,000 for its base model. But stay tuned for more updates on this more potent variant.
