2018 Mercedes-AMG S63: Welcomes Its Passengers With An Exclusive Ambience

A new engine, new all-wheel drive, new transmission, new exterior and interior design will come along with the 2018 Mercedes-AMG S63. The company has developed a special front axle kinematics that includes a higher wheel camber, bigger stabilizer bar, and more rigid subframe mount at the rear axle only for the S63 4MATIC+.

These measures will optimize the car's agility when employing a spirited driving style. With the newly developed front axle and the tuned all-wheel-drive system, the S63 4MATIC+ represents a new dimension in driving dynamics in its competitive segment.

With the S63, we additionally took a major development step that supports our leadership claim in the areas of driving dynamics, performance, traction, equipment and demonstrative comfort," says the Chairman of the Managing Board of Mercedes-AMG GmbH, Tobias Moers. "The S65 with its high-torque 6.0-litre V-12 Biturbo engine remains the spearhead of the S-Class models." 

The 2018 Mercedes-AMG S63 is equipped with an AMG 4.0-litre V-8 Biturbo engine that comes exclusively in the highest performance stage to date with an impressive rate at 450 kW or 612 hp. The car's peak torque of 900 Nm also sets a new maximum. As to its rev range, it comes between 2750 and 4500 rpm which also shows a sense of superiority.

The car's advanced AMG 4.0-litre V-8 Biturbo engine also utilizes a well-proven twin-turbo forced induction along with the two chargers located in the V of the cylinders. This Two twin-scroll turbochargers offer an even better fresh-mixture cylinder charge which results in a more torque at low engine speeds, a very spontaneous throttle response, and a higher output.

The 2018 Mercedes-AMG S63 is equipped with the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 9-speed sports transmission for the first time, which impresses with fast multiple downshifts, extremely short shift times, and a rev-matching function. In addition, a wet start-off clutch is the replacement of the torque converter of the production model that saves weight and improves the response to the driver's accelerator pedal input mostly during load changes and acceleration.
