Bentley Battle: Continental GT vs. Bentayga; Which Is Faster?

Bentley is considered one of the best luxury brands ever. It is responsible for producing the best vehicles such as the Bentayga and Continental GT. For both Bentleys to be compared is definitely expected. This time around, both go neck-and-neck to determine which is faster, so which one is which?

Racing between the Bentayga and Continental GT proves to be significantly close making it even more challenging to determine which is faster. However, it is important to know that a car's weight is an important factor in its speed or lack thereof. With this said, the latest generation Continental GT is an overweight car. Not to be outdone in the weight division, the Bentayga is massive.

There is about 70 kg in between the two Bentleys, so the faster Bentley may still be slower if it goes in competition with its lighter counterparts. The W12-powered Bentayga produces 608 PS and 663 pound-feet of torque. It can accelerate from zero to 62 mph in just 4.1-seconds. The Bentayga has a top speed of 187 mph.

The Continental GT, on the other hand, has a smaller 4.0-liter V-8 engine which is capable of producing 486 pound-feet of torque and 507 PS. It can accelerate from zero to 62 mph in 4.8-seconds with a top speed of 188 mph.

With this regard, the Bentayga is faster as it has 100 more horsepower and more torque compared to the Continental GT. However, the Continental GT can push for a little bit more for its top speed. When push-comes-to-shove, the Continental GT has 1 mph reserved power which may come useful when need be.

Currently, the second generation Continental GT is now at its advanced development stage so expect for it to be more powerful, capable, and faster. In terms of speed, the Bentayga aces the competition. However, the Continental GT has a lot of bragging rights as well. After all, both are Bentley's so neither can be considered a bad choice.
