Photos of what looks like the facelifted 2018 Peugeot 308 hatchback have now surfaced the internet, suggesting that the updated version of Peugeot's rival for the Ford Focus and Volkswagen Golf will break cover within this year. But it's not a surprise that the automaker would be revealing a refreshed version of its sporty hatchback.

The photos, unconfirmed by Peugeot but was initially posted on a brand-specific forum, revealed just minor tweaks that are coming to the family hatchback this year. At the front, the new 2018 Peugeot 308 hatchback gets a new equalizer style grille, formed into a stronger nose.

The most notable tweaks were the more aggressive front bumper with integrated fog lights and indicator strips that are now separated into the headlight clusters. It's almost identical to the Chinese market 308 sedans that was revealed a year ago that comes with LED strips for the daytime running lights compared to the dotted units of the ongoing car.

In addition, there's also the grille from higher GT versions with Peugeot's lion badge lying in the middle, giving the small hatch a much more sporty appearance. At the rear, the new 308 seems limited to darker taillights, with the similar three claw LED signature like before.

On the inside, the changes are also very minor, with the main highlight being what seems to be a bigger infotainment display. But there is no sign of the new i-Cockpit design that is seen on the new 3008 and 5008 SUVs.

Unfortunately, details of what lies under the hood still is a mystery. But according to a few reports, the new 308 will likely be powered by carryover or revised versions of the ongoing three and four cylinder turbo petrol and diesel engine.

The official launch of the all new 2018 Peugeot 308 hatchback is said to in June. For now, the leaked images just gives everyone a first glance of the updated 308 and everyone may need to wait until its official launch to see the differences.
