2017 Lamborghini Aventador S: More Power, More Tech, And More Agility

The Lamborghini Aventador S can be described in a lot of things, fast, loud, powerful and thrilling to drive, but one thing it isn't is logical. The reason is that it's more expensive and more difficult to drive on the limit and physically to impose on the road than its little brother, the Huracan.

The new Aventador is characterized by a new aerodynamic design, redeveloped suspension, new driving dynamics and increased power. The S is the suffix of the previous enhanced Lamborghini models and defines a new benchmark for the V12 Lambo.

Stefano Domenicali, Automobili Lamborghini Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, said, "This is the next generation Aventador as well as the expression of new technological and performance milestones in super sports car development. The Aventador S is visionary design, cutting-edge technology and driving dynamics in pure harmony, and elevates the concept of super sports cars to a new level."

The new design clearly indicates the new Aventador generation. The new Lamborghini Aventador S gets some exterior upgrades, particularly in the front and rear. A more aggressive nose and longer front splitter redirect the airflow for a much better aerodynamic efficiency, improved powertrain and increased cooling to the radiators.  The two air ducts on the side of the front bumper decrease aerodynamic interference from the car's front tires and optimize wake flow to the rear radiator.

The Aventador's naturally aspirated twelve cylinder, 6.5-liter engine produces an additional 40 hp over its predecessor, to a max 740 hp and with a 690 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm. And to achieve the power increase, both the VVT and VIS have been optimized to obtain an improved torque curve. In addition, the maximum engine revs have been increased from 8,350 to 8,500.

According to Lamborghini, the new Aventador can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds. The car also weighs around 1,575 kg which provides a weight-to-power ratio of just 2.13 kg/hp.

On the inside, the cockpit brings new functionality and refinement. A brand new TFT digital dashboard can be customized according to the driver's choice, with different screens for STRADA, SPORT, and CORSA in conjunction with the EGO mode. Apple CarPlay also comes as a standard specification, which allows the passengers to manage voice-activated communications and entertainment from personal Apple devices. Its interior specification is virtually limitless through Lamborghini's Ad Personam customization program.

The new Lamborghini Aventador S price starts from $788,914. First customers will take delivery of the new Aventador S in spring 2017.
