The 2018 Nissan Z is one infamous car. Not yet released and already a lot of rumors and predictions have been linked towards it. This only means that industry experts and car enthusiasts' excitement probably can't be contained any longer. The Japanese car manufacturer may be tight-lipped regarding this but one thing is for sure, it will be one of the best of its kind.

According to Car and Driver, all the rumors relating to the 2018 Nissan Z may finally be put to rest towards the end of the year. Recent reports have suggested that it will be available for preview with a close-to-production concept at the Tokyo Auto Show. This may be good news for car enthusiasts as it is reported to still be low-slung coupe. However, some reports strongly suggesting that it will be turned into a crossover.

The Z will borrow its underpinnings from Infiniti parts. It is also expected to ride on Infiniti Q60's FR-L platform. It will also adopt an edgier look which includes a gaping front end which is patterned after GT-R's updated look. Not only will it deliver an attractive and sleek ride, it also is considered packed with power as well.

The entry level 2018 Nissan Z is reported to be powered by 3.0-liter V-6 engine which can produce 300-horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. However, there are also reports suggesting that Nissan is working on a hybrid version with its electric motor capable of producing 160-horsepower. There are even sources saying that it can reach up to 500-horsepower, easily making the Z one of the most powerful in its class.

As added by Top Speed, there are reports saying that it may come entirely different for being a convertible. Whether the convertible rumor is one of its versions, or an entirely new design has yet to be confirmed. The convertible version will be powered by 2.0-liter turbocharged hybrid engine.

Shiro Nakamoa, Nissan's Senior Executive Vice President has hinted that the upcoming 2018 Nissan Z will come smaller and lighter. This is by far the last official report after Nissan decided to have the Z be rethought. Well, the waiting game may soon be over as it makes its debut in Tokyo this year.
