The 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor Race Truck Takes On Off-Road Racing

Ford is one wise automaker, even before they released the new 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor to the market, they already have started racing the race-truck version of F-150, the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor Race Truck. The truck has already competed in two events, the Parker 425 and Mint 400 which are the first two events that consist the Best in the Desert off-road racing series.

On the outside, Ford designed the truck to look ready for any challenging terrain. At the front, the truck gets a customized steel bar that helps protect the front from any damage in case of hard landings which are very common in off-road racing. It comes with LED off-road lights to increase illumination on the off-road terrains.

The usual FORD lettering is featured on the trucks on the grille. Other features such as the front fender vents and skid plate remain the same. A skid plate package also lies under its belly to protect its underbelly from any damage.

The 2017 Ford Raptor F-150 Rack Truck rides on the same 17-inch wheels and tires that are offered on the standard F-150. The wheels allow the truck to run with low pressure with the tires slipping off the rims. The wheels come with a 35-inch BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 wheels.

Furthermore, the truck comes with different logos which include an EcoBoost Moniker, the slogan Built Ford Tough, F-150 logo, and as well as the RAPTOR lettering across its bed. Raptor logos are also featured on several surfaces to remind passengers that this is a Raptor.

On the inside, it's been modified for racing purposes. The cabin is equipped with a full roll cage for the safety of the driver and passenger. The regular glass on windows also has been replaced with Plexiglas. Safety nets also have been added to the truck.

In addition, the truck is also fitted with MasterCraft racing seats that comes with 5-point safety harnesses that hold on to the driver and passenger. The cabin is also fitted with racing technologies that help the driver in navigating the desert terrain. These features include a data logger, Lowrance GPS system, and a Racepak digital dash.

Under the hood, the 2018 Ford F-150 Raptor Race Truck is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.5L EcoBoost V-6 engine which is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission system. Ford said that the new engine could produce 411 hp and 434 lb-ft of torque which is also produced by the outgoing Ford F-150 Raptor that is powered by a 6.2L V8 engine. The price is estimated to start at $80,000 and could even reach the $100,000 mark.
