2017 Jeep Wrangler Is Good But Is 2018 Jeep Wrangler Better? Is It Worth The Wait?

The Wrangler is certainly one of the best, or even the best off-roading vehicle ever made. It is made for the rough outdoors and thrives on toughest of terrains. With 2017 Jeep Wrangler in place, is the 2018 Jeep Wrangler a better option? For a buyer interested in getting the best off-roader ever, is it wise to go for the 2017 Wrangler or just wait for the 2018?

According to US News and World Report, the 2017 Jeep Wrangler is one of the most capable off-roader SUV in the market, however, class rivals are considered more superior in other aspects such as fuel efficiency, interior comfort, available technology and even noise levels in the interior. Unfortunately, it also finished almost at the bottom of off-roading SUVs for a good number of reasons.

The 2017 Wrangler was last redesigned back in 2007 and even after a decade, there were few changes made. Its price is also considered one of the detriments. Basic technological features are reported to cost by the thousands but come in readily as standard in some of its competitors. It also doesn't have a spacious and comfortable interior which suggests that off-roading may bring discomfort to the passengers as the SUV blissfully glides over the most rugged of terrains.

It also did not fare well in terms of fuel economy. However, it is important to note that this is quite normal for a vehicle which boasts of powerful engines. It gets 17 mpg in the city and 21 mpg on the highway with either transmission. Though common issue for powerful vehicles, some of its competitors still managed to fare better.

With this said, what is there to expect in the 2018 Jeep Wrangler? According to Fox News, recently, the 2018 Wrangler prototype was seen being loaded onto the back of a flatbed. Unfortunately, it is rumored to have suffered some mechanical issues after being tested on the road.

From what was spotted, it appears to be riding on Rubicon-style wheels and doesn't stray away from the Wrangler's iconic look. However, being loyal doesn't mean exactly the same. The 2018 Jeep Wrangler gets a more updated look for having a prominent front bumper and its windshield is raked back a little for improved aerodynamics.

It is also expected to come powered by a four-cylinder, a V-6, and a diesel is to be offered. It is also reported to have a hybrid version which is aimed at efficiency and off-road control. Jeep will also follow a two-door and four-door Wranglers it gets released. This is expected to be released sometime 2018 or 2019. More specific details are certainly going to be made available soon enough.

The 2017 Jeep Wrangler is a great off-roader and its performance is the best as many industry experts would agree. It may have its fair share of pitfalls, however, if one is into serious off-roading without being keen on price and riding comfort, by all means, go for the 2017 Wrangler. However, if one expects a better version and can wait for a year or two, no doubt, wait for the 2018 Wrangler.
