The 2018 Mercedes A-Class spy photos recently graced the internet with its presence. The A-class was spied testing in Finland this week.

As seen in the spy photos, the 2018 Mercedes A-Class prototype had a very low height. Now, this does not necessarily mean it will be a lowered car. It could mean that the engineers were testing the car's suspension.

Testing the car's suspension is a good way to find out which necessary changes and tweaks need to be done before the A-class' big debut. It is scheduled to debut at some point next year, 2018.

Naturally, the prototype is heavily disguised. Underneath the camouflage, fans can see the makings of the car's production body and lights.

It does look slightly wider and longer than the current A-Class model. According to reports, it could also have an entirely new set of lighting clusters.

At the front, it is clear that the test vehicle's halogen lights will be installed on the lower-spec versions of the range. The more expensive models will be equipped with a more sophisticated full LED setup.

The 2018 Mercedes A-Class will also sport a different shape of the taillights, it is apparent with the prototype. The redesigned taillights appear to be much wider, as well. This will help reflect the car's increased footprint.

The new model will also be shedding some weight all thanks to Mercedes' second iteration of its flexible Modular Front Architecture (MFA). It's larger, but it is lighter.

The previous spy shots of the 2018 Mercedes A-Class were of a prototyped fully equipped with sensors and cameras. This is an indication that the new A-Class models will feature tons of safety and assistance systems.

It will also be a great car for travel. Because it is now larger, it has more rear legroom. The trunk size also increased significantly.

According to Motor1, there will be a few engines available. Starting from the three-cylinder turbocharged engines to four-cylinder ones. The engines will be paired with a 2.0-liter unit with more than 400 horsepower in the flagship A45.
