Many fans of the famous Android and Apple app are still wondering where those Legendary types are since they haven't been spoken since its launch in 2016. But according to the game's developer, Niantic, legendary Pokemon will finally be catchable in Pokemon Go this 2017.

While there was no official release date set by Niantic, CEO, John Hanke, confirmed to Wired in an interview that they are planning to release in 2017.  He said that legendary Pokemons like Mewtwo, Zapdos, Mew, Articuno, and Moltres would definitely be seen in the game this year. "I can say with certainty that we will see more of that this year," Hanke added when asked about when the legendary Pokemon will appear in the game.

The last time that a legendary Pokemon was seen was Mewtwo in the original announcement trailer. But unfortunately, there has been no clues since on how any of the legendary Pokemon will appear in Pokemon Go.

Articuno, a legendary bird, was previously spotted in some player's rosters last year, but it was later canceled by Niantic. Niantic said at that time, "We recently noticed that a few Legendary Pokemon got into a few accounts when they shouldn't have. "To preserve the game's integrity and as a measure of fairness, we have rectified the situation and revoked the legendary Pokemon from the Trainers' accounts."

Furthermore, Niantic has continued to support Pokemon Go since its release in July last year. It brought creatures from Pokemon Gold and Silver to the mobile game in February, while trading will launch at some point this year and PVP battles are now also in the works.

Meanwhile, another major update will be changing the gym battle system. Hanke said that they would overhaul the aspect of the game to ensure more teamwork and to give players more incentive to receive the rewards from gym battles.

In other news, Pokemon Go and Pokemon Sun and Moon are now up for the Best Mobile Game at this year's game BAFTA's. For the full list of nominees, click here.
