It was always a dream for Emerson Fittipaldi to build a GT car. Financial hurdle was the major problem he faced. However, the racer left no stone unturned to give shape to his dreams. Finally, the car that he has created, the Fittipaldi EF7, will be showcased at the Geneva Motor Show.

Emerson Fittipaldi has had a nice run as a racer. He had won the Indy 500 twice, the global CART championship once. It would be a shame if it is not mentioned that he was the youngest person ever to earn a Formula One championship back in 1972. Even after all these achievements, at the age of 70, there is something that Emerson really wanted to achieve- to build his dream car, reported Autoblog.

The financial troubles were overcome after Emerson joined hands with prominent automakers in the industry. "I call them the Dream Team," he says.

The specifications of the car are very impressive. It is powered by a 4.8-liter, 9,000-rpm-redline V8 making 600 horsepower engine. The weight of the car is reduced to its carbon fiber-intensive body. By doing so, the safety is not compromised. The car can speed 0-60 in well under 3 seconds, reported Auto Guide.

Fittipaldi revealed that he has used all his experience as a champion to create this car. The car that he created is a pleasure to drive and equals in the performance department. "My number one goal with this car is that the person who buys it is going to enjoy it. I'm doing it to make an enjoyable car on the racetrack." Fittipaldi says. "I wanted the car to be an extension of the driver. To be one: driver and car."

There are a number of prominent names who came together to create the car. The concept was Fittipaldi's. The design was taken care of by legendary Italian carrozzeria Pininfarina. The build of the car will be made by HWA, the German racecar engineering and fabrication company. Polyphony Digital will ensure the distribution of the car is made smoothly.

"Basically, you have German engineering, Italian design, and Emerson," says Carter Jung, senior manager of strategy with Polyphony. "So we got involved because we thought this was a cool partnership. We saw the value in the three different major partners, and we came to sort of be the amplification arm."
