When we look closely, "Orange is the New Black" is not just a story. According to statistics, The United States has the highest incarceration rate in the world.

Based on the figures, there are close to 2.2 million people in prisons and jails. This might be one of the reasons why the Netflix series "Orange is the New Black" is one of the most-awaited, most popular series. The series is inspired by the memoir of Piper Kerman who penned down her experiences as an inmate in the memoir "Orange is the New Black: My Year in a Women's Prison."

The series, "Orange is the New Black" will return with a bang. It is not going to be easy for the inmates as a huge war is brewing up in the Litchfield prison. Netflix announced that the fifth season of the series will premiere on June 9. It also released a 15-second teaser for the fifth season, reported Hollywood Reporter.

The teaser gives a sneak-peek into the effect that the tragedy at the end of season 4 had on the inmates. The general mood at the prison is not so pleasant. A gamut of emotions is displayed in the teaser from shock to rage and fear.

The teaser shows all the prisoners - Alex, Piper, Nicky, Flaca, Taystee, Lorna, Cindy, Maria, Red, and Gloria. They seem on the verge of a riot. The teaser ends showing Daya holding the gun that will initiate a prison-wide riot.

"It will be very detailed, very intense, and you better get ready," Danielle Brooks revealed about the season. "Get your popcorn, your tissues."

It is reported that Piper Kerman, the author of the memoir, is coming to Grand Rapids today, March 7th, to tell her story. This event is sponsored by Grand Haven-based nonprofit Humanity for Prisoners in cooperation with the Duncan Littlefair Great Speakers Series of Fountain Street Church, reported Fox.

The event will be at the Fountain Street Church, 24 Fountain St. NE. After the "Orange is the New Black" event, she will sign books in the lobby. The proceeds from the event will be donated to support Humanity for Prisoners and the services that it is providing for the Michigan prisoners.
