A Hennessey Velociraptor would probably not be your top-of-mind idea of a supercar - or super truck for that matter! But when Hennessey Performance of Sealy, Texas offered to upgrade Ford's second generation F-150 Raptor, then the deal was formed.

The Hennessey Velociraptor, formally called the Velociraptor 600 Twin Turbo, has twin turbo-charged its 3.5-liter V-6 engine to 605 horsepower, up from only 450 hp. Likewise, it registers 622 pound-feet of torque from a mere 510 lb-ft before.

The outcome of all this turbocharging is the Velociraptor will be able to sprint a quarter mile at 12.9 seconds - or about 110 mph, reported Geeky Gadgets. For a pick-up truck, that is real fast!

There is an off-road package for the Velociraptor, offered by Hennessey. It comes with new front and rear bumpers with 5 LED lights in the bumper, a front suspension leveling kit, an overall lift of 3 inches, 20 inch Hennessey 10-spoke wheels, 35 inch Toyo off-road tires, exterior emblems and professional installment, according to Hennessey Performance.

Hennessey is reported to be making only 100 units of the Velociraptor 600 Twin Turbo in 2017. For those with more money, a 6x6 version of the Raptor will be available in 2017 for USD317,000. The package also offers ECU tuning, a high-flow exhaust, and intercooler piping upgrade said Motor Authority. Basically, the Velociraptor has everything that an ideal off-road vehicle needs and more.

The Ford F-150 Raptor, the main foundation of the Velociraptor, is one of the few off-road trucks that has been highly commended for its use of technology in its handling. Its drivetrain is more advanced than the majority of off-road trucks, with a 4WD/AWD combination transfer case, and six driving modes ("Normal", "Baja" to "Rock Crawl"), reported Forbes. So, why not try the Hennessey Velociraptor on your next off-road adventure?
