The AMD Ryzen 7 1800X was released earlier this month, and since then it has made a lot of buzz in the tech community. Tech experts and analysts have started to experiment with the processor and some have made comparative real-world benchmarks against its Intel counterparts. Recently, one user has pushed the boundaries of the Ryzen 7 1800X past its limits and overclocked it to 5.8GHz, while slashing world records along the way.
The feat was set by renowned overclocker Der8auer. The same user who shared a video on delidding a Ryzen processor.Der8auer claimed that he destroyed two Ryzen 7 1700 processors in his attempts, and finally achieved the feat on his third try.
Der8auer achieved an overclocked speed of 5.8GHz or 5,802.93MHz to be precise. The overclocker was able to achieve this by using a multiplier of 44.5 and 130.4MHz bus speed. This represents an upgrade of 61.19 percent compared to the 1800X's stock clock speed. Suppressing heat is a tricky bit when overclocking, which is why Der8auer used liquid nitrogen in order to achieve the world record.

The rest of the test bench includes an ASUS ROG Crosshair VI Hero motherboard with its CPU voltage raised to 1.98V, according to Hot Hardware. The setup packs 16GB of DDR4-2400MHz memory set.
Prior to Der8auer's record-setting overclock of the Ryzen 7 1800X, another renowned overclocker named Elmor has set a record using the same processor. However, Elmor's overclocking effort only managed to achieve 5.4GHz clock speed.
AMD is currently flying high in accolades and praises for the Ryzen 7 series of processors. Critics and users praised the company for establishing a healthy competition against Intel which has dominated the market for several years.
According to Ars Technica, the AMD Ryzen 1800X has a base clock of 3.5GHz and boost clock of 4.0GHz. The processor has 8 cores, 16 threads and packs 16MB of L3 cache.
