Ford Motor Company launched the FordPass app to enable their consumers to control their vehicles through their smartphones. Additionally, the company recently updated the application and expanded its mobility services. What are they?
The FordPass app has been around for 18 months and has been updated every 30 days since then. These updates include developed features instigated by Dearborn and Silicon Valley team, including the coverage of vehicles covered by the tech app. Initially, these vehicles include the Ford F-150, Ford Escape, and Ford Fusion models. Although some of the features were yet to be implemented, Auto News reported that even non-Ford users have downloaded the app which paved the way for the company to develop it further to expand potential revenue streams.
At present, Ford recognized that the application could be utilized by others, even those who do not own Ford models. Because of this, the company announced during the 2016 Detroit Auto Show press conference that they will innovate FordPass into a more revolutionary platform.
