Microsoft has announced a game subscriptions service in the style of Netflix with the Xbox Game Pass. The monthly service will be available in the spring of this year to Xbox One users.

Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass monthly subscription. Microsoft's monthly game subscription service brings a library of over 100 Xbox game titles including backward compatible ones for the 360. The service will only be made available to the Xbox One gaming console and Windows 10 devices. The Xbox Game Pass was conceived and will be launched in preparation for the release of Microsoft's highly anticipated Project Scorpio.

Xbox head Phil Spencer introduced the service on February 28 in an Xbox Wire post. "Today, we're continuing our commitment to give you more options to diversify and expand your library of games with Xbox Game Pass, a new gaming subscription service coming later this spring," Spencer said. He further added, "Xbox Game Pass gives you unlimited access to over 100 Xbox One and backward compatible Xbox 360 games - all for $9.99 per month."

For only US$9.99 a month, players will have unlimited access to full titles that they can download directly onto the console. Having the games downloaded onto the console means continuous full-fidelity gameplay with no bandwidth or connectivity issues to interrupt it.

Any games part of the Xbox Game Pass library that you buy will be 20 percent off. Also discounted will be add-ons such as maps, expansions, and the like. New games will cycle into the subscription's library every month with a few titles cycling out. This feature will allow a dynamic list of games to check and explore.

Games included in the Xbox Game Pass library will include the upcoming Halo 5: Guardians, Payday 2, SoulCalibur II, and NBA 2K16. Other games will be available from top industry publishers like Capcom, 505 Games, 2K, Deep Silver, Bandai Namco Corporation, and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment to name a few.
