Strava is one of the most known fitness tracking apps, which has been available for iOS users. The Strava app can be downloaded from the App Store for free. The iOS Strava users can now update the application to its latest version and get its functionality through the Apple Watch as well.

The new version of the Strava app only supports the Apple Watch Series 2. Before, Strava users had to simultaneously carry their smartphones with them to record their Strava activities, but the new app allows Apple Watch users to get GPS support, heart rate data and record Strava activities by just using their smartwatch.

According to Cycling Weekly, the Strava app on Apple Watches can automatically be updated. The app will update automatically when they have updated Strava on their iOS device. The new update does not need a premium account to enjoy the fitness app.

Also, a premium account is not required for users to record their Strava activities on their Apple Watches. However, there are certain features, which are going to be unlocked. These features are Beacon and Live Segments for $5.99 per month or $59.99 per year. These premium features can be obtained through in-app purchases anytime.

Mateo Ortega, Strava's Head of Integration, said that research and athlete feedback often drives new Strava features and integrations. It gives a home to the company to strive and add more compatible devices to its growing list. Strava aimed to provide athletes an excellent Strava experience on the Apple Watch Series 2. The fitness app company is striving harder to provide the best Watch experience possible, as noted by News Softpedia.

Recording Strava activities through iPod Touch and iPad version 1 would produce inaccurate location results. It needs an additional hardware, which helps gather and collect information from the ANT+ sensors.

Strava has revealed that the fitness tracking application is going to be available for Android Wear 2.0 users also. The fitness tracking app is believed to provide the same functionality as the iOS version, but for Android devices.
