'Star Wars Episode 8' Potential Spoilers: Theories on Rey's Father, Luke Skywalker's Isolation, and 'The Last Jedi'

"Star Wars Episode 8: The Last Jedi" may answer several questions that are on many avid fans' minds. The identity of Rey's parents, what happened to Luke Skywalker, and the fate of Kylo Ren were all cliff-hangers from "The Force Awakens."

Episode 7. "The Force Awakens" introduces the new protagonist Rey and the main antagonists Kylo Ren and Supreme Leader Snoke. The three characters are a mystery and part of what made the movie so great was not knowing who they were. Towards the end of the film, Kylo Ren is apparently Ben Solo, the son of Han Solo and Leia Organa, who turned to the dark side. Kylo Ren kills his father Han, much to the surprise and shock of many Star Wars fans.

Meanwhile, Rey is a Jakku scavenger who escaped on the Millenium Falcon. She is apparently Force sensitive and could possibly become a Jedi. At the end of the movie, she finds Luke Skywalker and hands over his blue lightsaber.

Currently, there are no plausible theories about Supreme Leader Snoke. Some theories claim he may be Anakin Skywalker's real father (despite it being a part of the story that he was born without a father) and others go so far as to believe he is Ezra Bridger from "Star Wars Rebels."

Rey's Father. Rey will likely start her Jedi training under Luke Skywalker in Star Wars Episode 8. According to Reddit user Con0rr via Movie Pilot, Rey may very well be Luke's daughter. This theory has been backed up by many Reddit users who believe that this is the simplest and most logical explanation, given all of the parallels between the two.

First, Luke and Rey were both abandoned alone on desolate planets with little to no knowledge of their families. Second, Rey obviously is extremely powerful in the Force and was very good at wielding a light saber. In addition, she was also an excellent pilot, similar to Luke and Anakin Skywalker.

In an interview with Heroic Hollywood, Daisy even said that the identity of her parents was answered in "The Force Awakens." Considering that all signs point to Luke, even his own light saber that called out to Rey, she may very well be a Skywalker.

Luke's Isolation. The flashback scene from Star Wars Episode VII revealed a lot about Luke Skywalker's isolation. His endeavors of training new Jedi failed when the dark side seduced Kylo Ren. Kylo Ren killed all of the young Jedi, and many believe this led Luke to isolate himself.

In addition, Reddit user ahsokas_revenge added another interesting twist about Luke. The old Jedi was allegedly investigating the origins of the Jedi to deepen his knowledge of the Force. Luke's search led him to Ahch-To and the first ancient Jedi temple. There, he found the Journal of the Whills.

The Journal of the Whills often referenced the Jedi. It dates back to the earliest drafts of the original Star Wars scripts but never made its way to the movies. However, a quotation from the Journal was used in the novelization of The Force Awakens. This officially made it canon.

The highly voted Reddit theory claims that Luke Skywalker may have been communicating with Qui-Gon Jinn. Qui-Gon was the first Jedi to learn how to transcend the Living Force using the Whills teachings. After being in isolation for so long, Luke realizes all of the flaws of the Jedi philosophy and decides it is archaic and needs a revamp.

As a consequence, Luke decides to make his own new order based on his enlightened philosophy. He decides to make Rey his first recruit, making Luke Skywalker the last Jedi.

"Star Wars Episode 8: The Last Jedi" will air in cinemas in December. With a very strict NDA, everyone is left guessing and speculating. Perhaps the movie's upcoming trailer will give us more insight into the movie. Who do you think Rey's parents are? What do you think will happen in Episode 8?
