Sauber Reveals C36 for 2017 Formula 1 Season - Images Inside

Sauber reveals the first images of their 2017 car for the Formula 1 Season. The C36 is the first Formula 1 car to be unveiled this year.

Sauber is the first F1 team to officially unveil their weapon for this year's competition. The C36 has is recognizable with its striking new blue and white livery with a gold-coloured front wing.

This year, the Swiss team aims to re-establish themselves as regular top-10 contenders. Fans might remember that Sauber finished in the points just once. With this, they pipped Manor to 10th in the Constructor's Championship and secured crucial prize money funds.

The Sauber C36 looks similar to the one used in 2016. Only this time, it features a delta-shaped front wing.

It also has lower, wider rear wing and bigger tyres. According to Sauber's new technical director Jorg Zander, he expected "a clear improvement compared to last year."

The Sauber C36 will feature a wider and revised floor are. This will enable the car to generate more downforce.

According to reports, at least 30% increase in downforce will be added. Zander worked as a technical chief at Audi's successful program in the World Endurance Championship.

Two years later, Zander joined Sauber. His long resume includes working for Toyota, BAR, Williams and Brawn F1 teams and more.

In an interview, Zander talked about Sauber's latest Formula 1 car. He said, "Our objective is to establish ourselves in the mid-field. In comparison to last year, we will implement our development plan for the whole season, but we have to be realistic as our reference is at a lower level than the ones of our competitors."

Zander also mentioned that the C36 is focused on reducing the drag coefficient. "The aero concept includes the optimization of the front and rear wings and the underfloor. The radiator, the side pods, and the bodywork were designed to be as slim as possible," Zander's team stated.
