Microsoft has delivered on two new major features for the Xbox One. The two new features aim to increase engagement among users of the flagship gaming console.

Xbox One gets two new epic features. In an Xbox Wire post by Beam co-founder Matt Salsamendi, a Beam app has been announced as available to members of the Xbox Insider program. The app will eventually be made available to everyone else using the console by spring of this year.

Beam is an app that allows players to broadcast their games and watch their favorite streams. It also allows for both streamers and viewers to interact and even play with each other.

Starting on February 19, those part of the Xbox Insider program will be able to use the Beam app to watch and interact with other streamers. Watching and interacting with other users on the console will earn users experience points (XP) as well as Sparks.

Salsamendi has said that new Beam interactive features will be announced at the upcoming Game Developers Conference. The conference will take place on February 27 until March 3 in San Francisco.

Aside from the Beam app, users in the United Kingdom will now be able to use an ITV Hub app for the console. The app has been a sought after feature for a long time now, specifically three years. UK users will now be able to take advantage of the full slate of ITV programming on the gaming console. Rival BBC iPlayer was released two years previously.

To use ITV on the Xbox One gaming console, all one would need is an ITV account. Signing up for ITV's video-on-demand services is technically free. Users outside of the UK will not have access to the app but could by switching the console's region in the Settings menu.
