The founder of Kojima Productions has taken to twitter to give excited fans updates on the development of Death Stranding. The PS4 game could be coming out sooner than what most people think.

Death Stranding for the PS4 release date. There hasn't been any news on the exact release date of the anticipated PS4 game from Kojima Productions. Fans do know that the people behind the game are busy working on it with founder Hideo Kojima giving updates via the social networking site Twitter every now and then.

Speaking at the 2016 Tokyo Game Show, Kojima playfully said that the game will be out before the Olympics, referring to the upcoming Tokyo Olympic Games in 2020. He did, however, go deeper into specifics by saying that the game will come out before the year that the movie Akira is set in.

Akira, a critically successful 1988 anime film based on the manga of the same name, is set in the year 2019. This basically means that fans will get to play the much-awaited game sometime in 2018.

The game is the debut project of Kojima Productions, the studio founded by the same person who created the famous Metal Gear game franchise. It will be released exclusively on the Sony PS4.

Death Stranding is an action game in an open world setting with multiplayer functions. It stars actors Norman Reedus of The Walking Dead fame and Madds Mikkelsen who famously portrayed the TV version of serial killer Dr. Hannibal Lecter. Both actors, along with Mexican filmmaker Guillermo del Toro, are portrayed in-game via motion capture technology.

Despite the inclusion of the actors and filmmaker along with the eerie feel of the first two game trailers, the game will not be a horror game according to Kojima. There aren't any other details surrounding the games and excited fans will just have to keep watch for more updates via Kojima's tweets.
