Destiny 2: News, Release, Price, and Other Details

Destiny 2, the sequel for the very successful MMO shooter, is confirmed to be on track for its release later this year. Activision, the series' publisher, confirmed this news in a press conference last week.

BGR reported that during an earnings call, Activision confirmed the sequel is on track for its 2017 release. Developer Bungie is set to "release a full game sequel in 2017."

Other than that, Bungie and Activision gave no other details. All they said was that they expect the sequel in 2017 to broaden the franchise's global reach. In other words, the world can expect Destiny 2 to come out this year and Bungie will develop DLC to support it.

Tech Radar had more news. The website reported that the game was initially set to release in 2016 but was pushed back to make sure the game would be everything the fans hoped for. It is also expected to launch in the 3rd quarter of this year at a price point of $59.99.

The website adds that it also seems that PC gamers will get to join in on the fun. Originally rumored in NeoGAF last year that Destiny 2 will be available for a PC version, the claim was backed up by Kotaku, who was able to quote sources close to the game. There is yet no confirmed PC release date, but the possibility has already been confirmed by several insiders.

The game will feature a cinematic story. This was confirmed by Activision exec Eric Hirshberg said earlier this year. The game publisher really wants to focus on making the cast memorable and relatable. Additionally, they also confirmed that it has a lot of "follow-on content plans."

The game will also be more accessible to casual players. The sequel hopes to provide a gameplay with less grinding and more variety. The characters have also been confirmed to remain relatively the same.

More Destiny 2 reveals may arrive at this year's E3 event in June. Bungie, who is also the developer of the popular Halo series, is a big fan of E3 so hopefully, we can expect more details in June. Are you excited for the game? Share your thoughts and comments below.
