Google Pixel/Pixel XL, Nexus 6P To Receive February Patches Today

The news about the security update of Android came from the least expected sources. The February updates for Google's Pixel, Pixel XL, and Nexus 6P devices will start from today as revealed by a regional Canadian carrier, Telus.

It is a known fact that the company handles the updates for all these devices single-handedly. So, even if the news on the security updates was brought forward by a Canadian firm, it can be expected that the updates for the phones will be on the same dates for all the markets. So the carriers around the globe will be updated on the dates as mentioned by Telus, reported GSM Arena.

Pixel, Pixel XL, and Nexus 6P will be receiving the updates on February 6th. A few Blackberry devices like BlackBerry Z10, BlackBerry Z30, and BlackBerry Leap have also made it to the list that is set to be updated.

According to available information, the security update for a couple of Blackberry devices will also be on the same day. Reports suggest that Blackberry Priv and Sony Xperia already started getting updates. On the other hand, surprisingly, Google did not spearhead the February updates, reported Phone Arena.

It is expected that though Telus did not mention any information on the supported Nexus devices, the update patches for these devices will be rolled out soon. Also, by next week, Google will be ready with the updates for its Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones. The Nexus 6p will also not be left behind.

To sum up, BlackBerry Z10, BlackBerry Z30, BlackBerry Leap, Pixel, Pixel XL and Nexus 6P will be receiving security updates today. However, it can be assumed that other carriers across the globe will also get the security patches today itself. The updates for Motorola E and Motorola Z were released on January 26. Samsung GS5 Neo, Blackberry Q19, Blackberry Classic, Blackberry Passport and Blackberry DTEK50 received the updates on January 30.
