Audi has unveiled the starting price of its new R8 V10 Spyder. The new Spyder will be retailing at a base price of US$176,350.

Audi R8 V10 Spyder. The new R8 V10 Spyder will be using the same engine found in the Audi R8 coupe which is a 5.2-liter V10 engine. The V10 engine will pack 540 horsepower and 398 pound-foot of torque and paired with a seven-speed S-tronic dual-clutch transmission.

The new Sypder will be able to go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 3.5 seconds reaching 8,700 revolutions per minute. It will also be able to get to a top speed of 198 miles per hour. Its automatic electrohydraulic convertible system can fold the new Spyder's top down in 20 seconds while driving at a speed of 31 miles per hour.

The R8 V10 Spyder has increased rigidity thanks to an upgrade to its aluminum and carbon fiber chassis. According to the German car manufacturer, the ASF chassis weighs very lightly due to a higher concentration of carbon fiber materials which is also incorporated into the sills, windshield frame, and A-pillars. This technically makes the Spyder 50% stiffer than the previous model.

Just like the R8 coupe, the new Spyder also has a driver-centric cockpit. It is equipped with the 12.3-inch Virtual Cockpit that refreshes information at 60 frames per second along with user-friendly controls. The seats can adjust to 18 different directions.

What's new though is the Audi Connect that offers 4G LTE connectivity, myAudi support, and Wi-Fi hotspot capabilities. The new R8 V10 Spyder also sports a Bang and Olufsen sound system with the speakers built into the headrests.

The launch of the R8 V10 Spyder occurred simultaneously with the kick-off of the 2017 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. The race started on January 28, 2017 with the 24 Hours of Daytona at Daytona Beach, Florida.
