The 2017 Subaru Outback is a wonderful mix of rugged refinement. It is a very versatile midsize SUV and is perfect for those looking for a reasonably priced crossover SUV.

Pros and Features. The Subaru SUV is a five passenger wagon that offers a spacious and comfortable cabin. It also has a shorter roof and cargo loading height that makes it easier to load things.

The crossover SUV has impressive front and rear seats. The soft suspension and smooth ride quality are also added bonuses.

Cons. The 2017 Subaru's acceleration is unremarkable. In addition, its gas and brake pedal make it difficult to drive its four-cylinder engine smoothly.

What's New? The SUV gets an additional reverse automatic braking and automatic high beams this year. There is also a new Touring model this year.

Models. The 2017 Subaru Outback comes in 6 different models: 2.5i, 2.5i Premium, 2.5i Limited, 2.5i Touring, 3.6R Limited, and 3.6R Touring.

The base model has a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. It has 175 horsepower and 174 lb-ft of torque as well as a CVT. The standard SUV also has 17-inch alloy wheels, automatic headlights, and other tech features.

The 2.5i Premium adds a rear privacy glass, dual-zone automatic climate control, and more tech features. It even has a Power Moonroof package and an optional power liftgate with memory height.

The 2.5i Limited has all of the Premium's options plus 18-inch wheels and other tech and safety features. There are also optional xenon headlights.

The 3.6R Limited gets the xenon headlights as a standard and a more powerful engine. Apart from that, it has all the same features as the 2.5i Limited.

The 2 Touring variants feature the standard features and options from the Premium and Limited models. It also adds a Driver Assist Technology package and 18-inch wheels, dark exterior trim, and other upgrades.

Pricing. The 2.5i starts at $26,520. The 2.5i Premium goes up to $30,265 while the 2.5i Limited has an MSRP of $35,260.

The 2.5i and 3.6 Touring are priced at $36,870 and $39,070, respectively. The 3.6R Limited has an MSRP of $37,465.

Verdict. The 2017 Subaru Outback is a great mix of ruggedness and comfort. It is very versatile and has a polished and refined look. It is a great choice for a midsize crossover SUV.
