The year 2016 will be remembered as one of the most disappointing in Apple's history. The Cupertino-company launched products such as iPhone 7 and MacBook Pro which all failed to impress the buying public. Adding another blow is the battery problem encountered by the iPhone 6s.

The MacBooks are one of the worst performers in 2016, forcing the company to cut production this year. The lackluster performance of the Apple laptops was due to their high price tag. Now, many consumers are switching to Microsoft Surface Pro which offers more attractive price and greater functionality.

According to Microsoft, it is easy to ditch the Mac for Surface. The latter is compatible with iTunes, iCloud, and iPhone. On its website, the tech giant presents the side-by-side comparison of the mobile devices to see how the Surface stacks up.

The Surface Pro has four features that the MacBook do not have. They include a detachable screen, and Nvidia graphics processor, a touchscreen, and digital pen. The Microsoft product also has higher screen resolution than its Apple rival. Its camera offers 1080p resolution as compared to MacBook's 720p shooter.

The Guardian's Alex Hern discusses if Apple users are better off switching from the MacBook Pro to Microsoft's much less expensive Surface Book. He shares his struggles with moving from the Mac product to the Microsoft device. He describes the latter as a delicious machine, masquerading as the former. He highlights the Surface Pro's long battery life.

For PC Magazine's Sascha Segan, the Mac is in trouble due to more robust competition. In his article, he explains why he switched from a 2011 MacBook Pro to a Surface Book. He commends the Surface's touchscreen, trackpad keyboard, and pen. He is all praises for the high-res screen which provides increased productivity due to its multi-windows feature.

The experiences of those who tried the Surface Book revealed that switching is not a walk in the park. There will be difficulties with adapting to a new layout of shortcuts and extensions. The main factor that will entice Mac users is the price of the Surface Pro.
