The Dodge Hellcat twins were pegged to be those American muscle cars that had the most impressive powertrain in the automobile industry. However, new updates to the 2017 Chevrolet Corvette were applied which improved its horsepower from 460mph to 800hp. Did the Hellcat just lose its rank as the best in horsepower award?

The Specs. The 2017 Chevrolet Corvette has been modified to be far better than predecessors, the Corvette Z06 and 2016 Grand Sport model. The brand new 2017 Yenko model is now able to generate 800hp for its powertrain and 750 lb.-ft. of torque. The modified Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport has increased displacement due to the LT1 feature which was initially pegged at 6.2L to 6.8L, reported Automobile Magazine. On the other hand, the C7 Z06 was also updated with a 2.9L twin-screw supercharger with a fuel system from its 6.2L LT4 engine. The vehicle could be purchased with either the 8-speed automatic transmission or the 7-speed manual and either as a coupe or convertible vehicle.

Other features of the updated vehicle include forged steel crankshaft, forged aluminum pistons, and CNC aluminum heads. Furthermore, the exteriors have been incorporated with the Yenko badge including the engines of the updated vehicles.

The Price. The base price was initially pegged at $65,450 but will have an additional $46,000 more for the 2017 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport updated version. Only 50 models would be created by the automaker which will be featured in the upcoming 2017 Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale sale, reported Jalopnik. Despite the impressive updates to the vehicle, those living in California may not own a model since the state's emissions regulations were not confirmed when the updates were installed.

The 2017 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport and Z06 models are now available for pre-order from consumers as per SVE. Have both updated models knocked the Hellcat twins off the top spot?
