The Subaru Impreza line has been known to be problematic. The new Subaru Impreza, however, is equipped with upgrades, features, and tech aimed to change that.

The 2017 Subaru Impreza. The Subaru Impreza has come a long way from being just a regular compact. The 2017 Impreza is Subaru's first model produced on the Subaru Global Architecture platform which is what will be used for future models. It sports a cosmetic overhaul along with current standard car technology.

Subaru took to moving forward by improving on driving feel and performance, interior, and infotainment capability for the 2017 Subaru Impreza. They've learned that a car manufacturer should always take into account these three.

The 2017 Impreza's structure is solid and stable and not because it is much heavier than previous models. Even with additional steel added in for safety and rigidity, it is still within 100 pounds of the fourth-generation Impreza. With the added steel in place, crash energy absorption has increased by 40 percent compared to the previous model. The ride on the new Impreza is unexpectedly comfortable because of this.

The 2017 Subaru Impreza runs on a revised FB20 direct-injected 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 152 horsepower and 145 pound-foot of torque. It is available in continuously variable automatic and five-speed stick transmissions. Fuel economy is EPA-rated at 28 miles per gallon in city driving and 38 on the highway. The drive on the new Subaru shows a great improvement compared to previous models being more comfortable, smoother, and stable.

The new Impreza features a Harman/Kardon stereo and three dash-mounted multicolor screens with which you can download the latest driving apps onto. One can get an optional navigation system based on TomTom. Interior detailing has greatly improved and the upholstery trim is much nicer. Passenger space is a lot roomier and cargo space is three cubic feet more than last year's model.

For those looking to a buy a small car, it is only wise to add Subaru on the list of cars to check out along with Mazda, Toyota, and Honda. The 2017 Subaru Impreza retails at around US$20,000 to US$25,000 depending on the variant.
