BMW took car shopping to the next level. Using Google's Tango Augmented Reality Technology, they were able to create an app that lets customers preview a virtual car in augmented reality.

CES 2017. During the Consumer Electronics Show 2017 BMW unveiled its "BMW i Visualizer" app that uses Google's Tango AR technology. This app allows users to preview whatever car they want such as the BMW i3 or the BMW i8. At the present, it is only available for the Asus Zenfone AR, another big reveal at the CES 2017.

This technology is a major game changer. Potential car buyers will no longer have to visit their nearest car dealership in order to preview the car that they want.

While a regular app or browsing online can only reveal a BMW i3 price or the BMW i8 price or their specs, this app can let users actually see the virtual car they want through 3D mapping. They can even choose different options and colors for the virtual cars.

The difficult chore of visiting tons of dealerships to go car shopping will be gone. Users can see everything on their Asus Zenfone AR and select which car is really right for them.

Google's Tango. On top of the "BMW i Visualizer" app, Google also announced two more Tango updates. The first is a new app that lets shoppers test clothes on from the Gap. Gone are the days where shopping for clothes online was impossible. Shoppers can also purchase clothes without having to go to the physical stores.

Google also added The Zenfone from Asustek Computer Inc. as a hardware partner. The augmented reality technology is now compatible with the Asus Zenfone AR. The cellphone will support both Tango and Google's Daydream VR.

The "BMW i Visualizer" app together with Google's Tango has made a monumental stride in technology. In the future, customers may no longer need to even visit a car dealership. They can have the car delivered straight to their doorstep.
