Bose unveiled its "Beyond Sound" automotive technology concepts during the CES 201. One of their innovations was an award-winning ride-smoothing personal suspension technology for self-driving vehicles.

CES 2017. Bose revealed its latest auto tech innovations during the Consumer Electronics Show yesterday. It showcased its "Beyond Sound" experience which aims to evolve transportation and personal mobility in revolutionary ways.

The "Beyond Sound" experience featured Bose Ride's award-winning ride-smoothing tech for autonomous cars. Basically, Bose envisioned passengers riding their self-driving cars in absolute comfort.

"Our personal suspension technology is already proven, and it can dramatically enhance the passenger experience," said the Bose Automotive VP Marc Mansell in a statement. He was referring to the Bose Ride trucker seats that have been in existence since 2010.

Amar Bose. Prior to the launch of the trucker seats, the audio tech company started experimenting with this technology in the 1980s. The initiative was called Project Sound and it was launched by Dr. Amar Bose.

Amar Bose, the company's founder, wanted to improve the passengers' ride in cars. He wanted to invent a fully active suspension system. This eventually led to the trucker seats that were able to offer a smooth ride to big trucks.

Truck drivers are known for spending long hours on the road. In the past, trucker seats that had no ride-smoothing technology posed many risks for drivers.

Apart from the regular strain on their backs and legs, there was added strain on their necks and on their internal organs. This was due to the poor suspension of trucks. Ride-smoothing suspension technology can counteract this and provide safety and comfort for the drivers.

"Beyond Sound" for Today's Cars. At CES 2017, the attendees of "Beyond Sound" were able to witness the Bose Ride trucker seat suspension. In addition, Bose also has more automotive tech projects.

Bose offers its latest sound systems and new SeatCentric audio advancements. These are both for music and non-entertainment content.

Bose Aware signal steering technology was also introduced. This innovation was engineered with the aim of increasing situational awareness and safety for drivers. With the state-of-the-art technology, drivers can improve their ability to process and react to audible vehicular alerts, safety prompts, and other navigation signals.

The Bose Aware steering technology utilizes Bose's UltraNearfield sound systems. This is a headrest speaker. It uses proprietary algorithms which localize the car's audio information. It can then be reproduced and heard from the particular location the driver needs to be focusing on.
