2017 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Accidentally Revealed By Ford’s Website

The 2017 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 was accidentally revealed by Ford’s website this week. Google results show that Ford now has a page for the new Shelby GT500 and is getting ready for the 2017 North American International Auto Show, where the new Shelby GT500 might grace the event.

The new Mustang is getting closer, and we can finally see the renewed car, which has hardly changed since its introduction in 2013, in Detroit. New features of this new generation have already been seen on more than one occasion and we have seen even test units of all body variants with all the mechanical options. The 2017 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 version, however, was still waiting to be confirmed: But not anymore.

A discovery made by some auto sites like Carscoops confirmed the arrival of the 2017 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500. In recent months there have been several reports that predicted the arrival of new finishes to the 2017 Mustang range, like the 2017 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 and Mach 1, another classic name. Now a quick Google search will prove that this is turning into a reality.

Right now, when one searches in the 2017 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 on Google, a suspicious result will appear with current page of the corporate website of Ford entitled "2017 Ford Mustang Shelby GT 500 | The Cobra of Performance Cars". However, the URL that appears under the title doesn’t currently work and instead redirects one to the current Mustang V6, only available in some markets and said to disappear in this new iteration of the Mustang.

This is unlikely to be a simple error of programmers or a remnant of the previous model, which was discontinued in the summer of 2015. This was a month before entering in manufacturing the current GT350, according to AutomobileMag.

Also, a look at the source code of that page throws us new evidence, since one of the keywords that can be found is "2017 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 5.8-liter V8 engine". This keyword describes precisely the previous GT500, equipped with the V8 5.8 - liter Trinity, with its 670 hp that remains the most powerful Mustang released so far.

This would suggest a return of V8 Trinity, however, so far all reports pointed to the 2017 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 having a new V8 supercharged version of Voodoo used so far in the GT350 and GT350R. The Voodoo is a block V8 5.2 - liter that has a plane or cross - plane crankshaft type, and its supercharged version, which would receive the name V8 Predator, could reach over 700 hp.

Clearly the 2017 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 does not exist, at least for now. We will have to wait a few months more to know what surprises Ford has in store for us. We are excited to see if the new 2017 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 can compete with the power of the Hellcat versions of Dodge.
