Aston Martin DB4 GT, considered six decades ago as Britain's fastest passenger car, will soon be resurrected at limited edition with 25 units priced at £1.5 million (nearly $2 million) each. The Aston Martin DB4 GT was unveiled at the London Motor Show of 1959 and debuted at the Silverstone racing event where it had its first taste of victory.
Considered a classic car, an original Aston Martin DB4 GT today exchanged hands at £3.7 million, which is more than twice the price of the new one, according to Bloomberg Pursuits. This makes the 25 units of the new hand-built ones look like an excellent bargain at £1.5 million each; however, these cars will only be good for the tracks, which mean that they cannot be driven on public roads. Instead, buyers will be given a two-year membership in the international program for track-driving.
To ascertain that the reproduction of the Aston Martin DB4 GT will be done to perfection, surviving original cars were digitally scanned and around 400 drawings of the original model were used as a basis in building the new ones.The prototype is slated to be finished in June of 2017, with orders delivered over the next few months of the same year, according to Auto Week. Orders can be placed directly to the factory.
While the retro Aston Martin DB4 GT will look exactly like the original, modern technology will be used to ensure absolute safety, high performance and a pleasant driving experience. The interior will have some changes, although the steering wheel will be wood-lined, just like the original, according to Business Standard.
Powered by straight-six, 340bhp engine with each cylinder having twin spark plugs, the Aston Martin DB4 GT will be a car to reckon with on any race track around the world. While the number of cars sold has not been disclosed, there are rumors that the demand is very high.
