After getting rid of the ill-fated ELR, it looks like Cadillac is all set to snap back in the hybrid game; this time, with an existing car, but a new drivetrain: the 2017 Cadillac CT6 Plug-In Hybrid. The 2017 Cadillac CT6 Plug-In Hybrid was unveiled back in 2015; however, it is not slated to hit the retail showrooms until early next year.
But fret not! With its launch date just around the corner, Green Car Reports got hold of more details about the impending plug-in hybrid luxury sedan. The 2017 Cadillac CT6 Plug-In Hybrid is scheduled to arrive in the United States spring of next year with a starting price of $76,090 (destination included). Cadillac says, it will come with equipment and a slew of identical features from the non-hybrid CT6 Premium Luxury model, which is the second-highest trim level available at the moment. The CT6 Premium Luxury trim level model with the 3.6L V6 starts at $64,590. The twin-turbo V6, on the other hand, starts at $68,590, Autoblog reported.
Cadillac also noted that the 2017 Cadillac CT6 Plug-In Hybrid will pack a few features that are optional on regular gasoline models. To equip the 2017 Cadillac CT6 Plug-In Hybrid with enhanced night vision and rear seat infotainment system, a buyer would have to shell out $5,800 in optional packages. Cadillac now warrants an estimated electric-only range of 30 miles as well, in addition to a 65 MPGe (Miles Per Gallon equivalent) efficiency rating. MPGe is a measurement on how far a vehicle can travel electrically by using the same amount of energy as included in 1 gallon of gasoline.
Capable of achieving a top speed of 150 mph in hybrid mode, the CT6 is restricted to 78 mph in electric mode. This powertrain also packs a 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder gasoline engine, along with a pair of electric motors. It looks like the 2017 Cadillac CT6 Plug-In Hybrid is gearing up to emerge as one of the most fuel-friendly vehicles in its genre; not only featuring an all-electric driving mode, but also assuring an impressive level of performance.
