Black Friday is one sale event people are looking forward to every year. Just magine all the most popular gadgets at more than 50 percent off. This is also the best time to get the latest iPhone model; but this year, someone else became the most popular Black Friday gadget: the Google Pixel.

It's the end of an era as Google Pixel surged ahead of iPhone in terms of sales during Black Friday 2016, as well as the Cyber Weekend that followed shortly after. The new Google phone have proven its popularity once again and not only that, this can also mean that it's already ahead of iPhone 7 in terms of competition.

Based on the combined sales from Black Friday, Thanksgiving, Cyber Weekend, and Cyber Monday --- Google Pixel emerged as the new winner, which managed to close as much as 112 percent of activation based on the statistics by Localytics. This year's winner was then followed by Samsung Galaxy S7 with 36 percent activation.

iPad Pro and iPad Mini were at the third and fourth place with 24 percent and 19 percent activations respectively. The most surprising twist however, iPhone 7 came out last with only 13 percent activation throughout the biggest sale season of the year.

It looks like the new kid on the block from Google is here to stay. Even before the Black Friday and the Cyber Monday hullabaloo, Google Pixel has already made quite some noise. This Android-based phone boasts of features that Google claims aren't available in any of Apple's iPhone range. Experts are even saying that Google Pixel might sell about 3 million devices, according to Fortune.

To make it worse for Apple, the same report by Localytics stated that older iPhone models performed better compared to the iPhone 7 during Thanksgiving. iPhone 7 just garnered 13 percent activation during this year's Thanksgiving celebration, while the 6s model garnered 36 percent activation during the same holiday last year.

Clearly, the newly released Google Pixel won the crown this year against Apple.
