If a rough sketch and a few basic specifications of Volkswagen's new premium sedan dubbed as the Arteon is anything to go by, car buffs might soon have something to cheer about.

A sketch of the Volkswagen Arteon surfaced online Monday, Nov. 28 --- allowing car enthusiasts to get a load of the impending concept car. The Arteon is slated to make its first public appearance at the Geneva International Motor Show that kickstarts on March 9, 2017.

Set to oust the Volkswagen CC, a four-door sedan, and the doomed Phaeton, the Volkswagen Arteon could be the German automaker's saving grace. Sitting well above the Passat in the premium sedan market, the VW Arteon surpasses the large family car in both pricing and machinery, according to Autoblog.

While the VW CC derived its name from Comfort Coupe, the Arteon is a perfect unification of "Art" that alludes to its silhouette and "Eon" that is simply VW's new way of describing its premium models.

The Volkswagen Arteon will also exhibit the car maker's new artistic, horizontally accentuated brand demeanor.

Its grille brar distends into its headlights, which are three-dimensional. Its LED lighting feature, on the other hand, accentuates its sporty overlook.

Other jaw-dropping design elements include top-hinged and wide-opening tailgate, frameless windows, and a large boot. To say the least, the VW Arteon is truly the spiritual heir to the VW CC luxury coupe, Car Wale reported.

Interestingly, the CC was never Volkswagen's cash cow; however, it emerged as a cult car that garnered new consumers who were drawn to its style --- despite its confined headroom, small back seat, and adjusted luggage space. Spy shots of the Volkswagen Arteon also suggest that the upcoming VW will be a big, four-door saloon car with aerodynamic lines and a magnificent road presence.
