"Star Wars Episode 8" is one of the most anticipated films to be released next year. While waiting for it on the big screen, fans are keeping busy with theories regarding the new characters' back stories.

Rey was a new character introduced in the recent Star Wars movie, "The Force Awakens". Because there is not much told about her character's roots, many fans are left to come up with their own theories.

One theory getting a lot of traction recently is from The_Playboy, a Reddit user. The post explains that Rey may be of royal blood, and might have been conceived in a past era when the royals ruled multiple planets. Because the First Order killed the royals, their families started to vanish --- including Rey's. The theory continues that Rey's family's planet may have been invaded by the First Order. Her kin was slayed, but she managed to escape with a guard who took her to Jakku.

Another theory springs in an alleged script leak for Star Wars Episode 8. According to HNGN, the leak tells us that Rey was saved by a former Jedi master and was taken to Jakku for safety.

Both theories are supported by a good number of fans, and it is only time that can tell which one is correct --- if either of them is. It is also possible that Rey is Luke Skywalker's daughter. She might be the offspring of Han Solo, too. It will be exciting to see how she reacts if she finds out. What will this mean for her character?

Right now, one thing is for sure --- we'll all just have to wait and see when the film hits theaters on December 15, 2017.

Star Wars Episode 8 will star Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Mark Hamill, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, and more.
