Niantic Labs' augmented reality mobile game, "Pokemon Go" took the gaming realm by storm when it debuted earlier this year. But things suddenly took an awkward turn as multiple reports hinted that the mobile sensation is starting to lose its luster.

Amid rampant rumors indicating that Pokemon Go is losing its paying players, Niantic is leaving no stone unturned in their last-ditch effort to keep players engaged in the game. In line with this, Niantic has added a fan-favorite species to the already impressive Pokemon lineup: Ditto.

Pokemon Go' Ditto: The Mirroring Pokemon

Ditto looks like a gel glob and it imitates its opponents. This rare Pokemon offers players who manage to capture it the ability to mimic the appearance, the strength, and the type of Pokemon it bumps into during battles.

Owing to its ability to mimic other creatures, Ditto disguises as other Pokemon.

In other words, to capture Ditto, players have to catch other Pokemon including the most generic ones. Once captured, only then will it reveal itself as Ditto.

'Pokemon Go' Nearby Tracker

It looks like players of Niantic's mobile sensation are in for another treat.

Aside from introducing the much-lauded Ditto in the game, Niantic has rolled out the Nearby tracker in some countries, The Verge reported.

The tracker comes in handy when detecting creatures in the game. However, players should bear in mind that the released feature is only available when there is a Pokestop nearby.

Niantic also made some changes to the Sightings feature in Pokemon Go.

The game developer confirmed that the Nearby tracker is currently working in some areas such as Hawaii and the Mississippi River, but excluding Alaska in the United States, Business Insider reported.

This feature is expected to be available in Canada as well --- specifically Manitoba, Alberta, Ontario's western half, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia. Meanwhile, the tracker is now available in all territories and states of Australia.
