Renault unveiled the specs and full pricelist of its upcoming Megane model, the Sports Tourer estate, which is set to hit UK stores next month. Doing away with the excesses of its predecessors but keeping its signature engines, the more practical-bodied Megane can be bought starting at £18,550.

The starting price will get buyers the upgraded estate version in Expression+ trim with a TCe turbocharged 1.2-liter petrol engine producing 128bhp. This is paired with a manual gearbox, but drivers who prefer automatic can avail of the same engine for an additional £1,200, reported Auto Express.

The five other available trim levels are Dynamique, Dynamique S, GT, GT Line and Signature. The top-quality GT trim is home to Renault's most powerful engine, a 1.6-liter, 202bhp turbocharged engine with four-wheel steering and launch control, according to Evo.

In addition to the standard engine, two diesel and one other petrol engine are being offered to buyers. This second petrol engine is the one behind the GT trim, capable of getting the Sport Tourer going at 62mph within just 7.4 seconds of starting the car.

The powerhouse engine reaches a maximum speed of 145mph and will be sold at £27,450. The diesel engines are more budget-friendly: £19,850 for a 1.5-liter 108 bhp engine and £22,550 for the 1.6-liter 128 bhp choice.

Meanwhile, some of its impressive finishes include daytime LED lights, steering wheels of leather and 16-inch alloy wheels, all of which are available even in the entry-level Sports Tourers. More premium trims like the Dynamique offer big extras: Automatic high and lowbeam headlights and wipers, traffic sign recognition and lane departure warning.

Overall, Renault's Sports Tourer is pricier than competitors like the Ford Focus Estate, but still remains the more affordable option when compared to similar Volkswagen Gold Estate and SEAT Leon ST. The Megane Sport Tourer is set to hit UK markets with a splash on December 1.
