Reports of stealing sports cars are increasing in the United States. Recently, three teenagers from the Kansas City area stole 1 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and 2 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat. However, it seems the powerful sports cars are too fast for them to handle as they crash just a few meters after stealing them and was caught red-handed.

The three youngsters aged 16, 17, and 19 managed to break into the Napleton Mid Rivers Dodge dealership at 1:30 a.m. Friday morning, according to Car Scoops. They chose to steal the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat which is the most powerful models of the manufacturer. Both are equipped with a powerful V8 HEMI 6.2-liter capable of developing more than 700 horsepower.

Shortly after getting out of the dealership, they started colliding with each other and finally crash the Hellcats. Police handling the case reported that the teenagers lost control of the car quite easily not even managing a mile away from the scene.

The success of the Hellcat is resounding and Dodge has sold and still selling really well these models, for the same reason it is not surprising that the Hellcat has become the target of many thieves in the US but most burglaries attempt ends in serious accidents and a wrecked vehicle much like the recent case reported. Just goes to show as the dealership said to Auto Evolution, that not anyone can tame a Hellcat and 120 percent attention on driving it is needed.

Two of the three young men have been locked up in a prison in the Kansas region while the third, still only 16 years old, remains pending the decision of a juvenile court. All three cars have been described as a total loss.

Mr. Frank Schaffer, the dealership owner burst out his frustration into the media as his shop is now left without the three of the most expensive and popular cars. The three hellcats are insured but Schaffer said that its going to take several months before Chrysler will give the allocation to replace them, highlighting how special the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat are.
