German car company Bayerische Motoren Werke AG, more popularly known as BMW, has issued a recall of 154,472 of its vehicles registered in the United States and Canada. Due to issues with fuel pump that could lead to engine stalling. The German carmaker has a global experience with safety recalls which can be traced back to 2014. They've conducted safety recall campaigns in China, Japan and South Korea for the same issue.
BMW is recalling a variety of 2007-2012 model, the intake fuel pumps of these models may have insufficiently crimped wire contacts. A fuel leak might occur since loose wires could cause the connector to melt. On top of this, the fuel pump could stop working which may cause the engine to stall. According to BMW, no injuries were reported from the technical problem. This is in accordance with the documents filed with the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration safety regulators.
Representatives of the carmaker from U.S. and Germany declined making any official statement regarding this issue.
A total of 88 percent of the vehicles recalled in North America are registered in the United States. Reuters reported that models included in the recall are manufactured between 2007 and 2012.

- X5 4.8i
- X5 M
- X5 xDrive30i
- X5 xDrive35i
- X5 xDrive48i
- X5 xDrive50i
From 2008-2011, the following models are on the recall list:
- X6 x Drive35i
- X6 xDrive50i
- X6 M
X6 ActiveHybrid models build between 2010 and 2011 are also part of the recall.

- 550i xDrive Gran Turismo
- (2011-2012) 550i Gran Turismo

BMW will notify owners and dealers that replacement of the fuel pump module is free of charge and is set to begin early December; BMW owners can call BMW customer service for more details at 1-800-525-7417.
