Last on the list is the Hyundai Tucson. The price starts at around $22,700 to $32,525. EPA certified performance at 26 mpg in the city and fares at 32 mpg on the highway. Estimated monthly payments will be at around $290 for two years. However, a $3,000 down payment is required upon sign-up.The towing capacity is expected at 16000 kg maximum, according to Autoexpert.

Subaru Forester

The Subaru Forrester offers the same EPA certified fuel-efficiency with 26 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway. It comes with 2.5 L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. This produces a 174 lb-ft of torque and 170 horsepower.

A top-trim version has an expected horsepower of around 250. The 2017 Subaru Forester price starts at 28,215. However, the average price paid for it drops to $26,340, according to Edmund's.

Toyota Rav4 tie with 2017 Mazda CX-5

It is a tie between the 2017 Toyota RAV4 and Mazda CX-5. The former recently launched a hybrid version. Mazda, on the other hand, hasn't made any announcements nor hints on whether they'll soon pursue the hybrid or EV hype.

The 2017 Toyota RAV 4 price starts at around $24,910. Fuel efficiency tested at 23 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway. Not to be outdone, the Mazda CX-5 MSRP starts at around $23,000. It is expected for release before the end of this year.

The only American SUV to make it to the list. However, it is a strong contender being at the second place.Equipped with a 2.0 L 4-cylinder turbocharged engine with a 275 LB-ft torque output. A subcompact that churns out 245 horsepower. Its MSRP starts at around $25,995.

Mitsubishi Outlander

The first Japanese SUV on the list. The 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander was unveiled last 2012. It has remained among the top SUVs to date. EPA confirmed fuel-efficiency at 25 in the city and 30 on the highway.

Its MSRP starts at $23,495.This spacious seven-seater also comes with a dual-zone climate control and signature "Rockford Fosgate" surround-sound system.
