The 2017 Nissan GT-R will face a tough battle to show whether it is still able to get the top spot in a drag race the way it did nine years ago. Top Gear magazine brought together the best sports cars of today, Porsche 911 Turbo S, McLaren 570S and Audi R8 V10 Plus to test the power of the reigning champ. Does the GT-R still has it touch? The exciting drag race shows the 2017 Nissan GT-R facing the 'heavyweights' of the time to show what it can do with its newest version. It is worth noting that in 2007, the Nissan GT-R R35 became the king of the track in a straight line, with a very convincible lead and this is where it gains fame, according to CarScoops.
However, today the story is different and competition is tougher. It is true that the new 2017 Nissan GT-R has increased 20 hp more power, so the twin-turbo V6 GT-R 2017 now develops 570 hp at a maximum torque of 637 Nm. But is this enough? Its competitor is doing an awesome job as well in their upgrades and improvements. This is the case of the Porsche 911 Turbo S which achieves 580 hp, the McLaren 570S with 570 hp and the Audi R8 V10 Plus at 610 hp

McLaren won the drag race with statistics of 0-60mph in 2.7 seconds, 0-100mph in 6.2 seconds and 1/4 mile in 10.6 seconds. Porsche is not far behind with statistics of 0-60mph in 3.1 seconds, 0-100mph in 6.0 seconds and 1/4 mile in 10.7 seconds. Audi came in 3rd with statistics of 0-60mph in 3.0 seconds, 0-100mph in 6.4 seconds and 1/4 mile in 10.8 seconds. While the once king of the race track finished last at 0-60mph in 2.9 seconds, 0-100mph in 6.9 seconds and 1/4 mile in 11 seconds.
GT-R fanboy or not, it is clear in this drag race that even though the 2017 Nissan GT-R has a brilliant engineering and stylish look into it, new sports cars in the market can beat it top speed already. Nissan should better bring out a new and improved version soon if they don't want the GT-R to be dethroned as the most sought out sports car of today.
