2016 BMW M5 With 818 HP on Tap: Most Powerful M5 Variant To Date

Japanese after-market specialists 3DDesign together with CarbonFiber Dynamics has come up with a new tuning package for the BMW M5 which makes it the most powerful variant of the sedan in the world at the moment. This, in spite of the fact that BMW is already into developing the successor to the venerable M5 variant though anything concrete on that isn't expected in another 2 years at least.

As such, while it's amazing the M5 continues to draw interest of specialist tuners, the end job done is truly commendable. According to Motor1, the bi-turbo 4.4-liter V8 has been tuned to liberate a massive 818 hp. That makes for a huge bump considering the same engine in its normal state of tune churns out 560 hp.

The power boost has been achieved by upgrading the twin turbochargers while a new exhaust system too is in place. However, though not confirmed, experts believe the ECU too could have been remapped as well.

With that much of power on tap, the custom M5 sprints from 0 to 124 mph (200 kph) in just about 10 seconds while the 62 mph to 124 mph comes up in 6.6 seconds. There is no mention about top speed though it is expected to be on the other side of the 190 mph that the M5 equipped with the M Driver's Package is capable of, mentioned TopGear.

Just to set the record straight, the credit for the power boost goes to CarbonFiber Dynamics that has largely limited themselves to the engine tuning. As such, the external body upgrades has been brought about by 3D Design. That includes the exterior 'Fire Orange' paint job together with the other style bits such as front lip, side sills, rear diffuser, and rear spoiler that have all been made of carbon fiber to allow for just the least weight gain.

The interiors remains large untouched, and so is the chassis and suspension, stated TopSpeed. Special mention must be made of the 21-inch graphite grey Vossen wheels that impart a distinctive identity to the sedan.

Pricing is anybody's guess at the moment.
