Toyota Calya MPV New Photos Leaked! Why It Is The 'Low Cost Green Car'

Toyota continues to reveal its MPV lineup with the early announcement of the Calya MPV. However, someone actually spotted the upcoming model parked at a dealership in Indonesia. Furthermore, let's dig deeper about the exterior and interior pictures of the Toyota Calya MPV, and why it is dubbed as the "low-cost green car."

According to Auto Industriya, the upcoming 7-seater vehicle got similarities to the Toyota Innova. Notably, the exterior of the new model has a lower black grill and circular fog light with satin silver accents, which is the same as the latter.

Additionally, the kink on the third-row window and rear quarter panels are also inspired by the said vehicle. Not to mention the L-shaped taillights and wide rear glass at the back, and the thick chrome garnish on the tailgate also resembles the Innova.

On the other hand, the interior of the Toyota Calya MPV has fabric and one-touch tumble down 60:40 split-folding seats, manual air-conditioning, power windows, multi-information display, and bench-type third-row seating, to name a few.

As for the engine, the new model sports a 3NR 1.2-liter DOHC inline-four with Dual VVT-i. It delivers 88 PS at 6,000 rpm along with 108 Nm of torque at 4,200 rpm to the front wheels. It also has a dual front SRS airbags and ISOFIX child seat anchors for safety.

Now, let us go to the variants. First, the E-manual got all the features, except for the anti-lock brakes. Otherwise, the E and G automatic variants got it. 

But furthermore, the G variants has additional features such as  Bluetooth connectivity, four speakers. For the exterior, it has front fog lights, electronic folding side mirrors, silver accents on the door and dashboard, and chrome accents on the aircon vents and gear knob.

For the body mass, Toyota Calya MPV has a measurement of 4,070mm long (-120mm), 1,655mm wide (+5mm) and 1,600mm tall (-95mm). It also has a 2,525mm wheelbase. Check out the leaked photos on their website.

But given these features, why is it called as the "low-cost green car" in Indonesia? As per On Cars India, The label allows the buyers "to avail the tax benefit provided under this scheme by the government."

While the price is yet to be revealed, expect the Toyota Calya MPV to be available in fall.
