On Thursday, a bold move by the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles was made as they halted the production of the its well known line of SUVs, Jeep Cherokee and Grand Cherokee. FCA cut the output due to the minute problem of parts shortage.

According to Reuters, a Fiat Chrysler Automobiles spokeswoman said that production shift on a company's plant located in Toledo, Ohio was cut off last Wednesday and Thursday after the shift stopped for hours on Tuesday. The spokeswoman disclosed that there is no certainty if the production would continue on Friday and that the decisions for this issue is designated to a 'shift to shift basis' of the production employees.

FCA's spokeswoman also added that another production plant that supplies Grand Cherokee models in the Jefferson North Assembly Plan at Detroit was also cut off from production hours last Wednesday. Both shifts of the employees in the plant were halted by some hours. But the stoppage didn't lingered much as they went back to produce Grand Cherokee SUVs by Thursday at a normal rate again.

Daily Mail reported that sources indicate a shortage of supply on early Thursday. The production issues covered a scarcity in steering wheels from the Mexico plant leased to Key Safety Systems, which is known as a Michigan-based car parts supplier. However, the FCA spokeswoman tried to not convey any information to the media as she merely said that these lacking parts are coming from Mexico with an undisclosed name of the supplier.

Spite of these issues in the production line of SUVs by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, the Jeep Wrangler SUV, which is another model being produced in Toledo, Ohio was not among the affected by limited supply of auto parts.

Models of Cherokee are notably among the top selling Jeep models and is rated as the runner up model of Fiat Chrysler in the United States market since Ram 1500 pickup truck is the leading. Meanwhile, Grand Cherokee is also the runner up in most popular SUVs among US market.
