2016 Audi RS6 Avant Performance Price & First Drive Review: See It in Action

Fans of the Audi RS6 Avant may think that they have seen the best already, but the arrival of its "Performance" version takes things to greater lengths.

Better Speed and Power

To begin with, the 2016 Audi RS6 Avant Performance is faster and more powerful, Drive.com.au wrote in their first drive review. The new wagon runs at 445kW, reducing 0-100km/h time from 3.9 seconds to 3.7 seconds. Practically, it replaces the RS6 launched in 2014 as part of Audi Sport.

CarAdvice.com.au says acceleration is arguably the most impressive part of the new model, with consideration to the absence of an official launch control function. In their Phillip Island test drive, the outlet wanted to know how long it would take for the vehicle to run from standstill to 100mph and back to zero - and found their best at 13.5 seconds.

Features and Looks

The vehicle also comes with a 42mm wider wheel-arches wrapped around 21-inch alloy wheels with 285/30 tyres. It consumes 0.1L/100km more fuel at 9.7/100km. It packs other notable features such as the Audi parking system, a head-up display, a switchable RS sports exhaust and digital TV and DAB radio, to name a few.

Having turbochargers strategically put in place, the model's unconventional design is assumed to have propelled such power and torque upgrades.

In terms of looks, the vehicle sports a more titanium-feel in its grille, mirror caps and window surrounds, among other parts. By special order, an Ascari blue paint option (exterior) is available.

Price

Priced at $245,400, the RS6 Avant Performance sells $15,790 more than its predecessor (Australia), Motoring.com.au noted. This is reasonable considering the model's power and speed upgrades, which also feature a 750Nm of torque in overboost mode and the twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8.
