Two Italian brothers will feature a new 1960s-inspired Italian car in Monaco. The retro vehicle actually looks very much like the classic Alfa Romeo, and actually possesses some specs from the brand.

Dubbed the Effeffe Berlinetta, the retro car was designed by brothers Leonardo and Vittorio Frigerio at a small facility that they own in Monza, north of Italy. The four “F’s” in the name may stemmed from their family name. The vehicle was made by hand and draws inspiration from classic models.

"The Berlinetta is the daughter of a great passion but also the perfect example of how to combine the spirit of the Italian Granturismo of the Sixties and the special attention of the master craftsmen who built them with the most modern design and industrial techniques,” said Leonardo Frigerio about their car design and philosophy in a report by Birmingham Post.

AutoBlog notes that the Effeffe Berlinetta the car uses a front-mid-mounted Alfa Romeo Twin Cam four-cylinder engine, which has a design that was originally incepted in 1971. The 2.0-liter unit is linked to a five-speed manual gear box and there are a couple of Weber DCOE carburetors that allows it to run at 180 horsepower at 6,500 rpm.

The Effeffe features the same classic lines of the 1960s Alfa Romeo, although it is not a direct replica. The car was actually made by the Frigerio brothers as a tribute to the Italian way of building GT cars several decades ago. A handmade tubular spaceframe forms the chassis. The racer is set on wire wheels with center knock-off lugs. There are front and rear disc brakes, an independent front suspension and a rear that depends on a study live axle with a Watt’s linkage setup. The honeycomb look is connected to aluminum body panels which maintain its lightweight design. The whole unit weighs under 1,760 lbs.

The interior of the two-seater car will be fully custom-made and tailored according to the specific choices of the buyer. The interior features full Matteograssi leather with a matching luggage set. There is also a wooden Nardi steering wheel. The chassis settings will also be adjusted according to the buyer’s personal preferences. Each model will also be one-of-a-kind. The cars will also be manufactured in limited numbers only.

According to the Frigerio brothers, the Effeffe Berlinetta will cost almost $320,000.

People will get to see the actual Effeffe Berlinetta at the Top Marques show in Monaco.
