The issue:

General Motors is recalling its 2007-2008 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD and 3500HD pickups and GMC Sierra 2500HD and 3500HD trucks made between 2006 and 2008.

The popular trucks are being called back over passenger side frontal air bags made by Takata that could shoot metal shards at occupants upon deployment, according to The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The fix:

Company dealers are being told to repair all air bag inflators in affected vehicles, free of charge to the customers.

Injuries or accidents:

No injuries or accidents have been linked to the latest recall. More than 100 injuries and six deaths have been linked to faulty Takata air bags overall in the last decade.

Recall date:

GM has not set an official recall date yet though owners should receive their notices in the mail by sometime next month.

Number of Models Affected:

About 330,198 GM vehicles are affected by this recall.

Who to call?

Owners can reach Chevrolet's customer service line at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC's line at 1-800-462-8782.
